Our association members are part of the Ashinaga Africa Initiative , which consists of scholars and graduates dedicated to bringing a positive change to Africa. AISA members are studying various majors in different universities all across the globe. Our population todate (September 2020), approximates 200 with roughly 4 scholars from each of the 49 sub-Saharan countries in Africa.
AISA was founded in 2016 by some African scholars in AAI. Its main objectives at that time included to get AAI scholars active in Bokin (fundraising), and to promote cultural exchange between Africa and Japan. AISA has since grown in size and scope of activities. From 2017 to 2020, AISA took up additional roles as an Information centre for sharing opportunites, promoting professional skills development. Having brought the AISA family together, on one platform, we are now pushing towards joint collaborative efforts to implement some of the projects we have been working to improve our motherland.
