Refugee shelter homedesign

    January 10, 2020 by Admin

Moussa Kabore is a 2016 AAI scholar from Burkina Faso, currently studying architecture at the National School of Architecture in Paris.

Moussa was inspired by the vernecular architecture of his home country. He designed conceptual houses in Ouagadougou such as the Djik brand's clothing store. His concept takes into account the context, the environment in which the building will be located. The building integrates with its site making the whole visual a common element. In addition he uses techniques referring to nature which allows the creation of buildings that respect the environment. Moussa wishes to have these homes built one day to solve the problems of shelter for refugees

Gomi Project

August 20, 2019 by Admin

Emmanuel Maseruka is from Uganda, studying Global Business at Akita International Business School. He aims to redefine waste management in Kampala (Uganda) by introducing his own “GOMI Economy” model in Uganda which was inspired by Japan’s efficient recycling industry. The GOMI Economy would contribute to two SDGs: sustainable cities and communities, and responsible consumption and production.

Emmanuel was awarded a grand prize in the 2019 Ashinaga-AFRECO collaboration program of the TICAD 7 Innovation Award for this project after adjudication by four experts on business in Africa including Elizabeth Rossiello (CEO of Bitpesa). Emmanuel’s aim is to solve Kampala - and later East Africa’s - waste management problem by improving its recycling capacity; through setting up a system of incentives that encourages households to properly separate waste, after which they earn GOMI points on their mobile app that allows them to gain discounts at partner organizations, including retail stores and restaurants.
